Friday nights would not be the same without our weekly dose of Gogglebox.
Since 2013, we have been watching a TV show based on people watching a TV show – such a simple yet brilliant concept. Week in, week out, the Gogglebox families make us smile, laugh and cry with their antics. What makes the families so great is that they are so relatable. We all know a Steph or Dom who love a good drink in front of the box and all know a Scarlett Moffatt who tells it like it is.
Gogglebox is full of larger than life characters – Stephen and Chris and Sandy and Sandra are some of the most recognisable, but with 16 families entertaining us weekly, here’s six of CelebMix’s most underrated families.
The Tappers
The Tappers are husband and wife Jonathan and Nikki, along with their two children Josh and Amy. They are a stereotypical ‘normal’ family, but they are hilarious. Cheeky Josh and 1D fangirl Amy have their fights, Nikki gets stressed out in true mum style and Jonathan offers his pearls of wisdom. Who can forget Amy’s Cape Fear meltdown?!

Rev Kate and Graham
Whilst Graham often stays quite, Reverend Kate offers a great insight into things, providing us with some no-nonsense comments. Her collection of tea cosies and slippers are fabulous and she occasionally loves a good sing song. One of the funniest moments on Gogglebox was when Buster the dog (who’s legs normally make an appearance) kicked Graham’s cup of tea just as he was about to take a sip![youtube

The Malones
The Malones are husband and wife Tom and Julie, their sons Tom Jnr and Shaun as well as their army of enormous dogs. The family are often remembered for having a plate full of sweet treats in front of them, yet nobody ever seems to eat anything! Tom Jnr’s topknot was also a talking point – thankfully he’s had the chop since then. Tom Snr’s straight talking approach and facial expressions are a highlight, he’s unintentionally hilarious.

The Michaels
The Michaels are husband and wife Andrew and Carolyne and their kids Louis and Alexandra. The family were dropped from the show after Andrew became a UKIP candidate but were soon reinstated after he failed to gain a seat. Thank goodness for that as they are a hoot! Between Andrew’s refusal to watch anything rude, Carolyne’s crying over everything and anything sad and Louis’ sass, the Michaels are most definitely one of Gogglebox’s most underrated families. Their defining moment will always be mum Carolyne’s ‘I’ve had some Greek in me”.

The Siddiquis
Sid Siddiqui, and sons Umar and Baasit are one of the quieter families but they are a staple part of Gogglebox. They are just SO nice, and we need a bit of niceness in life. Umar is an actual softie and is always the first to tear up at the telly. Baasit has also added some extra ‘awwww’ after the birth of his first daughter, who sometime appears on the show too! Their dry comments and funny sense of humour makes for great viewing.

Leon and June
Without doubt, the most underrated stars of the show and actual relationship goals on every level. They have been married for over 50 years and are still very much in love. June’s disapproval of Leon’s crude comments is absolutely hilarious (‘Show us yer knicks June!’). Leon hates a lot of things except for his crackers and June of course, and has ranted about David Cameron, Jamie Oliver and Nicole Scherzinger. Despite Leon’s cheeky comments, they are both true romantics at heart and they often pull at your heart strings. Can we adopt them as grandparents please?!
